I said, "I'll make you smile for the simple fact I'm good at it. I'll make you smile just so I can sit and look at it."

I had two hours in between class and work. The fruits of these two hours was Ice Cream, Sun Bathing, and this little wonder. If you magnify it you can read about the hidden dreams, and deep struggles of some of these animated characters. I realize that some of these are cut off...well my paper is slightly bigger than my scanner. Alas.

Sun is shining in the sky. There ain't a cloud in sight. Its stopped raining, everybody's in a play and doncha know? It's a beautiful new day! Hey Hey

HistArt 481 notes. Of course. So I'm posting during a break in my day while listening to Dan Savage's Savage Love Cast. It's a little challenging, to be honest, to write while listening to one of the most entertaining sex advice blogs cum podcast (and yes, I did knowingly make that joke) I've ever had the good fortune to stumble across. However, I am powering through. Because you're worth it, dear reader.
Its another very beautiful day in Ann Arbor. The sun is shinning, the birds are tweeting, and the bicycles are a-wheeling. I hope everyone in the area has some quality frolicking time today. Preferably in some sort of field.
Ahhh spring, when young man's fancy turns to love. At least, thats what I've been told. As someone who has had the good fortune of being a girl all her life, I wouldn't know firsthand. To all you young men out there, I hope that your objects of fancy are worthy of your forthcoming love.
And for aalllll the ladies out there. Enjoy all the sweet, sweet loving.

Cause hey, it's spring. So it WILL be happening. That's a fact.

I want the world, I want the whole world. I want to wrap it up tight in my pocket. Its my bar of chocolate!

First Guest Post! Are you excited? I certainly am. Those of you who eat at Monahan's in Kerrytown know that they boast some of the best frenchfries in the territory. Also, some of the coolest foodie employees. However, you may not know that Mike Monahan (yes, the owner) is quite an artist. His little doodles appear on boxes all over the basement of Kerrytown. It's always a little treat to see them. I salvaged this from a box due for recycling.
The rest of this is the result of an hour or so of doodleing after work today. Did it feel good? You betcha!

Happy Sunday night y'all!

One day we're gonna live in Paris, I promise. I'm on it.

Here a treat readers, my first post in a while. And what a post it is! We got something for everyone here (as long as you like lots of doodles of people. Cause that's all I got for you)!
This 1st one has the distinction of being the only doodle that I did NOT do during my HistArt 481 class. Naw sir, this came out of my sketch pad, right next to actual drawings. Ever seen Mad Men? If not then you should, as it influenced this drawing immensely. Also, its an amazing show. I approve.
And here we have a selection of the 7 deadly sins done on note cards during lecture. I seem to have lost one in my bag. Also I have no clue what the 7th deadly sin is. I got Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Envy, Sloth. Prizes will be given to those who provide me with the last of the deadly sins, prizes in the form of art. Or candy. Or maybe just glowing recognition and love.
Guess what? I think I have fallen prey to every single one of these. Lust and Sloth have been major players in my life as a college girl, as well as gluttony. And Envy. As in Mustache envy.
I scream. You scream. All of us scream for ICE CREAM!! Especially this guy.
And last but not least we have another Word Drawing entry. What's here? Well besides me and that stylin' gent, we got "Hey Ya!" I just was listening to the cover by Jebadiah Parker (sp?) before that class. I adore that song.

Way of the light, everythings all right now, when you're living in the light now.

Hello from sunny, spring-like Ann Arbor!
It has been a time. How are you? Hows the wife and kids?
Good? Great? Beautiful.
Lets get serious for a second. How gorgeous is it right now? This is the kind of weather that makes me want to frolic in a field, make flower garlands, and forget the world of work and responsibility that looms before me. Last night some friends and I had a very laid back arb picnic. Yes it was a little too cold to be out after dark, and yes the ground was still sodden with melted snow, but did we care?
Well, yeah actually, a little. But still it was so nice to be outside without a coat and feel the sun on my face. Especially after my day yesterday, which started with two mid-terms (no St. Patricks day for me folks), fed into a delicious 7 mile run, PB&J with wine in the Arb, and culminated with MadMen. I enjoyed the progression.
So these doodles were me, tense and anxious, dealing with the class between my two midterms. The person up top with the bags under her eyes might just be me. The drawings beneath that are doodled in words, which I just started doing and love. Because its easy. And my mind was drained. So the words incorporated are "Why? Because!" The "Why?" is composed of monsters, the "Because!" is fairy tales, see if you can figure them out.
Its like a slightly less than awesome mind puzzle!

Baby take off your cool, I wanna see you, I wanna see you.

Today is lovely. Sadly, even though the sun is out I still have school. Lots of school. I've got one more class and after that I'm going to bury myself in studying for my two midterms. Thank you UofM. I love you too.
So these, then, are my Histart 481 and Soc 102 notes. You may be able to tell that the sun has made me loopy. If you close-up on the pages you will be able to read the written elements of these doodles, which are pretty extensive. My favorite of today? Without a doubt the Granny Lady and Wolf ensemble (seen above). I took great joy in that. I think more fairy tale themes will probably follow.
Soc 102 I was a little late for because I needed to make a Comet Coffee run. Ann Arborites, you must check out this place. Its in Nickels Arcade. Yes, yes the coffee is fantastic, the setting is cute, and the pastries are flaky and buttery, but thats not the reason that I'm making this suggestion. Its more so that you can check out the delightful pen drawings of fellow Ace Deuce dweller Ben Saginaw that pepper the place. Next time I see him Ill see if I can get him to guest contribute a doodle.
I might just have plans to expand this blog. Anyone who would like me to scan in a little piece of their talent should contact me in anyway possible. Carrier Pigeon delivery is preferred.

And this one? I don't even know what to say with this one...I will say that it is a faithful depiction of the salad I later ate for lunch, minus the business with the banana.
Love, peace, banana,
Jordan

You're a pretty human being. This living it ain't easy.

A whole lotta little nothings today. Little nothings culled from earlier notes in the week. As I am weak. From lack of sleep. Happy Daylight Savings Time Day by the way. And Pi Day. Fact: This is the only year in your lifetime that these two amazing holidays will fall on the same day.
Did I make that up? Maybe. Should you celebrate this occasion anyways? Depends how much you like pie. Pie and waking up an hour earlier in the morning. If that's the kind of party that you're into I say celebrations should ensue.

Yesterday my friend David showed me a tattoo that he got through a service one local place puts on called "What you get is what you get", wherein one pays $50 in order to reach into a box and blindly draw out tattoo images. If you absolutely hate the one you pull, you pay another $10 to draw another and then chose between the two of those. You will not get your money back if you decide against those two choices. Otherwise you must get whatever you draw tattooed on you (if you don't want to walk away un-inked and minus $60, that is). He now has a large bloody cross on his leg. His friend he went with has a pig.
Which--as anyone who has talked to me in the last 15 hours will know--I find incredibly cool. Not because I would do it. I'm happy with just the one tattoo. I'm more interested in the kind of person who would have the good humor and easy attitude to let something like a tattoo be up in the air like that. And the joke of willingly getting a bad tattoo done is just too good.
In short, I want to be that.
But since I'm not willing to get tattooed in so slap-dash a fashion, I could never actually ever be as cool as David. But I mean, I don't think I'd ever beat him in a cool-ness contest. He lights things on fire for a JOB.

All I can do is stare...back as kids we used to kiss when we played truth or dare.

First post in a while. Don't worry, I brushed the cobwebs off this thing before I sent it out for all you fine people to look at.
First up we have HistArt 481, where my time is mostly spent drawing. However, I have been making a conscience effort to take more notes. I am very impressed actually with how much I end up writing down in that class. How much I retain is another story all together.
Inspirations? The lion boy can be traced back to graffiti artist EDNA, whose style I adore and have fed off of for years. Other than that I was goofing off. The bird fish thing for example came out of nothing so much as drawing shapes and shading. Which is fun with pen.
This one's a paper I've been filling up randomly. Still doodling though (do not worry, I am not tricking you into looking at legitimate works. Those you shall never see, unless you ask nicely). I think most of this I did while on the phone.
Confession: talking on the phone makes me really nervous. I must either pace or draw while doing it or else I'm a lost awkward mess.
If I could create a pet. It would be that little thing there. Just sayin'.

unfold me, I am small

Just a short one today. Well short on words, big on images. Im being picked up for the airport in an hour by my wonderful friend Calvin (oh, and Calvin, you shall be remembered in this blog...I'm already planning my "fashion!" entry).

See you again when I get back!
Love,

Making her income and then some, cause even a wedding band wont stop a man who wanna spend some

Currently sitting in Starbucks (what a cliché...blogging in Starbucks) wearing a Sweetwaters shirt. I might be roughed up by the employees here as I attempt to leave.
So this is an older doodle but I kinda just want to share it with the world as it's so entirely random. Which is the way I function most of the time.
This is a snippit of a larger page-o-drawings, however I could not scan the whole thing as it also includes some attempts at poetry that I don't want to share with the world. Unfortunately, it kinda snakes through the drawing, so I was really limited in what I could scan from the larger work. Oh its also unfinished. Take that!

In other news, I'm really, truly, and pervasively exhausted. I'm very far from being a functional human being today, which is sad because I have (in the poignant words of someone or other from Tool Academy 2) "shit to attend to". Im not sure how much this is coming through in writing, but if you talk to me today you will see exactly what I mean. Its not good.

What else? Well the bugs have been killed. Quickly and without mercy by a really friendly exterminator. I came back to the apartment to lock it up after he finished and he let me come in (as long as I didn't touch anything) and showed me the contaminated mattress, being sure to point out the bugs that were crawling out of it to die, which effectively satisfied my morbid curiosity about the whole thing. He was also married to a beauty pageant coordinator, which means that he works the pageant beat on the weekends, traveling all over the United States.

I was expecting something more akin to the exterminator/alien from MIB to be honest. People are so interesting.
