The clock on the wall reads a quarter past midnight

Stressful week all over the place. I'm mostly spending my drawing time working on this coloring book project that's due fairly soon. Its hard to draw when my heart's just not in it, but oh well, its better than a paper.
These would be pages of notes from my earlier HistArt class. Plus one small add-on from my study session for my PoliSci final.
Finals?? Yes FINALS. My life has taken a tailspin into the depths of utter hopelessness. If more posts happen between now and the 26th I would be shocked with my utter awesomeness and ability to multitask.
Some analysis: I've been drawing a lot of superheros lately, but for the most part when I draw them they're kind of pathetic characters. On the other hand when I'm drawing inspired by someone I know, the image is a little more-for lack of a better term-heroic. I feel like this is an off shoot of my mood around finals, but right now I find the idea of normal people rising to the challenge of everyday life is so much more interesting and difficult than something you would read in marvel.
Yeah, It would be difficult to battle an intergalactic horde (for instance), but not so much when you have super strength, speed, and an array of gadgets at your disposal.
In latin, the preposition super-/supra- translates to "above", thus Superman translates to "Above Man" (In Catch-22 there's a line about being a Supraman that I just love). What makes him so special? I mean, besides all the powers he was born with.

In the fight against good and evil at least there's a clear distinction. You're fighting the good fight+you have a cape=you will win.

When you're taking a Final there is no assured outcome. All the studying in the world may not make a difference. You're tired, stressed, you lack x-ray vision, or the ability to turn invisible. You could wear a cape, but that might just make things more difficult for yourself. You just have to study and hope for the best.

My conclusion: Superheros have it easy. Also, being normal sucks hard.

I'd also like to add that I haven't had much sleep this week so I know I'm all over the place on this one. My bad.

  1. Jordan. You are amazing. Finals do suck, but we will be done soon :) Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be good at multi-tasking, and thus, be able to blog again before the 26th!
